Most Trees Plantation in 19 Minutes

130 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Ecological KUMAON commanded by Colonel Nandu Kumar BN, carried out record mass plantation of 1,04,036 saplings through 6,024 school children and teachers at Iggarah Devi village in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India on 5th June 2015, the World Environment Day. The Plantation was carried out on three sectors adjacent to each other on three mountainous terrains. A total of 100 hectares were covered during the plantation within 19 minutes starting from 11.10 am to 11.29 am. There were 13 varieties of saplings – ornamental, fodder, timber and fruit trees. Kokuyo Camlin Green India Challenge and the Forest Department also joined hands with the Army in this event.
